God, you made me; you created me
Our shared Christian faith is an important part of school life. We enjoy a daily act of collective worship together and have a large team of people who support our spiritual life in school:
|Monday||Golden Learner assembly|
|Tuesday||Rector's assembly - families always warmly welcome|
|Thursday||Whole school assembly|
|Friday||Class led assembly or Guest (individual class parents invited)|
Moira, our wonderful vicar, takes assembly each Tuesday and helps us to explore some of the themes that we are learning about during this time. Moira leads special services at Harvest, Remembrance, Christmas and Easter – sometimes in the church and sometimes in our school hall. The children love seeing Moira each week and she very often visits us for other special community events too. On Education Sunday and Remembrance Sunday, all staff, children and families are invited to come to the church to form part of the wider community to mark these occasions.
The Story Tellers are a team of volunteers from our local church and beyond who come in to share stories from the Storyteller Bible once a half term. Groups of children help to tell the story with the support of the volunteers, often getting dressed up and playing a key part in retelling the story. A great deal of time and preparation go into these visits on the part of the volunteers and they are very much appreciated by the children! Our children look forward to their Story Teller assembly time and there is a great sense of excitement as they enter the hall to hear another story from the bible.
We are also incredibly lucky to have half termly visits from:
Andy Morgan – youth minister from Chichester Baptist Church
Nick Taylor – youth minister from Immanuel Church
Bruno Kondobecka – minister from Revelation Family Church
This brilliant team of visitors help us to explore and unpick some of the themes we have been learning about during our collective worship time. The children always look forward to their visits and especially enjoy the fun that they bring to our times of collective worship. We are really grateful for all our visitors contribute to our learning community.
It is important to us that the children are as involved in our acts of worship as possible and so we have introduced a Worship Team who work with Mrs Sharp. This group meet regularly, often with our foundation governors, to help plan some of the key events during the school year.
