Healthy Schools
apple and pear

At Fishbourne we pride ourselves on being a 'Healthy School'. All key stage 1 children receive free fruit every day. We have introduced a scheme where the children in key stage 2 can bring 50p into class and receive a pot of fruit each morning break for the next week. Our aim is to have all the pupils eating fruit during the school day. As the saying goes, 'Have you had your 5 today?'.

We are doing our very best to encourage pupils to walk to school and have just introduced 'Walk to school Wednesday'. Stickers are awarded to those pupils who make the effort to walk some, if not all of the way to school. (Click to find out about our walking bus)

  • Plenty of fruit and vegetables, e.g. an apple, satsuma, handful of cherry tomatoes or carrot sticks, small tub of fruit salad or small box of raisins;
  • A portion of semi-skimmed milk or other dairy food, e.g. reduced fat cheese, yogurt or fromage frais;

EXERCISE

To encourage the children to have fun while exercising we have split our playground into different play zones. Although there are zones for different activities such as skipping, ball games etc. there are still zones for free play and a quiet area. All these zones are supervised by pupils from the older years who wear purple caps so that the younger children know who to approach.
